Toward aCarbon Neutraland Climate Resilient Future
WRI works with government, private, academic, and non-profit sectors to support national 2030 and 2060 climate and energy targets.
Our Challenge
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges for human beings in the 21st century. The Paris Agreement proposed that all countries should work together to keep global temperature rise this century well below 2 degrees C, and even more aggressively, to limit it within 1.5 degrees C. Chinese government has integrated climate change into national economic and social strategic plans, granting green development as a cornerstone of high-quality economic growth. In September 2020, China announced the new climate pledges to peak CO2 emissions before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
Global emissions mustdrop by half by 2030to prevent the worst impacts of climate change
Climate impacts are projected to cost the world economy$7.9 trillion by 2050
Climate action can bring$26+ trillionin economic benefits by 2030
Newlow-carbon jobscould be created in 2030
